ALLERGEN
IMMUNOTHERAPY

Immunotherapy is the only treatment that can alter the natural course of allergic diseases (1).

The mechanism of action of allergen immunotherapy is based on the controlled and continuous administration of the allergen to which the patient is allergic or sensitised. This causes the patient’s immune system to minimise its reaction against this allergen, thus reducing or eliminating the symptoms derived from the allergic process.

Allergen immunotherapy treatments usually begin with an initial treatment in which doses of the allergen are administered at increasing concentrations. Maintenance treatments are then administered with fixed doses of the allergen, with these treatments being maintained for 3 to 5 years.

The allergen immunotherapy treatments marketed by ITAI pharma are individualised medicinal products. This means that they will need to be prescribed by a specialist doctor, who will determine the type and duration of the treatment and the administration schedule.

If in doubt, ITAI pharma recommends consulting a specialist who will help you to better understand and interpret the information contained herein.
